xbox 360 glow

Truth be told, we still can’t believe this is the first commercially available glow in the dark Xbox 360 chassis, but then again, glow in the dark hasn’t been remotely fashionable since Bill Clinton left office. Still, if history is beginning to repeat itself, you know you want to be first on the bandwagon, and there’s no better way to throw it back than with the XCM Glow Pearl case. As it stands, the shell isn’t quite ready to be ordered, but we’re sure it’ll be worth every penny when your BFF sees just how gnarly this thing is in the dark.

PS3 outsells 360 in Australia

australiaFor Quarter one of 2008, that is. It’s a small victory for our sleek black box; however, it surely is an interesting victory considering that the PS3 is a very pricey machine down under. According to Sony managing director Michael Ephraim who spoke with PALGN, the PS3 outsold the 360 by 45% in Q1 2008. Ephraim believes that, “it’s a matter of time before [the PS3] surpass the install base [of the Xbox 360 in Australia].”

It looks like this far away PAL continent is starting to follow the footsteps of their European friends. Could Australia become the next Sony stronghold? Ephraim thinks so, “[Microsoft] were very weak in Continental Europe, so they have done fairly well here, but with the rate we’re going we will definitely surpass the install base, we’re just guessing somewhere around the end of the year, if not sooner if the trend keeps going the way it is.”

xbox 360 skin

Oh yeah, we’ve seen some undeniably bizarre Xbox 360 case mods, but this freakish homegrown covering exemplifies the art of destroying resale value. We don’t quite know what else there is to say about an incredibly detailed alligator skinned console, but if pictures really are worth a thousand or so words, there’s an epic waiting for you down in the read link. Please kids, don’t try this at home.

PlayStation 3 Surpasses Xbox 360 In Europe

PS3 Europe

With 5 million PS3s sold on the continent, Sony has announced that they’ve overtaken the 360 in Europe. And not only that, but Sony has been outselling Microsoft in the market since October.

While Sony’s PlayStation 3 has gotten off to a shaky, late start, Sony has always claimed that the console was doing well through Europe (which includes many markets that don’t have public sales figures available). And that makes sense, since the PlayStation brand is incredibly strong there—48 million PS2s have been sold there, along with 12 million PSPs.

With this European data in hand, it’s looking more and more like the Xbox 360 is an American trend (since their sales in Japan are virtually nonexistent). But Sony still has a good deal more ground to cover before they can claim second place in the console wars, even from the worldwide perspective. [BBC viaKotaku]
