USB Whack-A-Mole: Bring The Carnival To Your Desk

Online store GeekStuff4U is selling a USB powered version of a carnival classic, whack-a-mole. For roughly $42(the listed price is 21.00€) you get this little tabletop game where you “whack” little ghosts by pressing them with your fingers when they light up.

It keeps score and has sound effects for the whacking. It’s too bad the ghosts don’t pop up and down like the real whack-a-mole. Then again, I was never good at the real whack-a-mole, so I might have a fighting chance with this version. Cotton Candy and seedy gamer merchants not included.

USB-powered HEAT ME stirrer: a coffee addict\'s dream

We’ll go ahead and squash your hopes before you waste time pulling out the plastic — this thing’s just a concept, at least for now. From what we can glean, the HEAT ME is a fantastic device just waiting to be snapped up by Brando (or similar) and turned into the next must-have USB-powered gizmo. Put simply, the metal ends of this here stick warm up when plugged into your USB port, thus giving you a toasty wand to keep your hot tea / coffee at the proper temperature even when colleagues pull you away momentarily. Really though, is there any doubt this won’t go commercial within the next six months?

USB Fidgets in Three Flavors

Do you happen to have a bad habit of fidgeting around at your desk whenever you’re bored in the office? Well, instead of twirling pens and drumming your fingers on the table much to the annoyance of your cubicle mates, why not pick up any of these three USB fidgets from Brando? They come in basketball, golf and soccer models, each retailing for $14. Of course, pressing (tapping, more likely) the ball in question will help it bounce back to the other end of the screen from where the ball came from. A great way to test those reflexes, but do play this with your computer muted unless you want to get a warning letter from the management for not being dedicated enough at work.

USB Pooch Moves From Humping To Crunchingvia ubergizmo.com

Everybody laughed at the USB humping dog, and some people really loved it. This time, it seems that the dog is back, and it’s dead set on keeping fit. This latest pooch amuses himself by doing crunches on your USB port and comes with its (freaky) six-pack already achieved.

Even though it may not have an internal memory, it probably will still be an item that’s constantly sold-out. It’s currently going for £7.99

Darth Vader USB Hub

Darth Vader USB HubGood old Darth Vader never fails to impose himself, and this time the Sith Lord comes in the form of a USB hub. Of course, his chest controls are no longer fancy LED lights that blink randomly, but instead reveal themselves to be a quartet of USB 2.0 ports (presumably - who deals with 1.1 these days anyways).
Good thing the €43 you pay for this doesn’t result in just a deadpan USB 2.0 bust, but Darth Vader’s head will automatically come to life the moment he is hooked up to a computer. His eyes will glow red, while his famous breathing sound comes into play as he moves his head around.
We’re fortunate in a way that his hands are not there to Force Choke us whenever we start killing time at work by checking out our Facebook account instead of crunching numbers.

Nintendo Wii USB devices on the way?

Nintendo Wii USB devices on the way? Some wily web browsers have found a job listing at Nintendo of America that suggests the game company is finally getting serious about USB support for the Wii. The job search, found a few days ago, was for a “Software/Harware Tester” who can execute a “test plan for Wii’s USB devices.” Some think this could mean compatibility for external USB storage devices like hard drives and flash drives given the Wii’s limited 512MB internal memory. We, however, hope this means some sort of support for USB keyboards. It’s about time, isn’t it, Nintendo?
