Talk about a truly unique controller for your PC or Mac system - Actiga has rolled out a new line of Mini-Motion controllers that cater for different game categories, and they come in a whole host of form factors including skateboards, remote control cars, baseball as well as a futuristic racing vehicle. Each controller hooks up to your computer via USB and I must say I am pretty taken in by the skateboard version. No idea on whether these controllers are meant for custom games, or do they work across other available games that are in the market already. Each Mini-Motion controller will cost $19.99.

Hallucinogenic Eye Candy USB Lollies Take Your Brain to That Special Place, For Real

eyecandyMmm, mind-bending USB lollipops, the “delicious new confectionary uses cutting edge Sensory Substitution Technology to transmit vivid emotive images into your mind’s eye.” Wait, what? Tripping via USB? Shockingly, it might actually be legit.

It may seem like a total sham (and the “email for availability” link on the “Order Online” page doesn’t help), but the the concept behind Eye Candy is actually based on real scientific research. In the 1970s, Mexican Neuroscientist Paul Bach-y-Rita, developed the then-crazy idea that the brain could accept other non-visual stimuli, such as someone tracing a figure on your back, and actually produce a vision of the figure in your mind as if you had seen it.

Devices like Eye Candy work by producing a matrix of small electrical pulses on your tongue, which is loaded with nerves, in the shape of a certain object to fool the brain into seeing it. Whether a faux-image of a fish can help you RELAX, or a faux spider can help you OVERCOME your fears like Eye Candy asserts is a different matter entirely, but the tech is not a total hoax.

Charmed by Philips\' latest Active Crystals USB drives

Ok, you’ve really gone and put us in a twist this time Philips. The he-man editors of Engadget haven’t exactly been wooed by Philips’ lineup of Active Crystals USB drives slathered in Swarovski excess. Then again, we’re not their target audience. Somehow though, these new 2GB Happy Laura and Naughty Raymond USB drive robots make us want to titter coyly with demure fingertips pressed lightly to our pouty mouths. But for €150 (about $223), we won’t.

GreenTech: Earthdrive USB drive is made of cornThe ATP Earthdrive isn’t made entirely of corn (a notoriously poor conductor of electricity, which is the reason I always head straight for a cornfield during thunderstorms) but partly of that particular commodity, as well as other elements more greenish than your average USB drive.

Apart from its probable deliciousness, the Earthdrive sources green cred from the fact that the manufacturer donates a portion of each unit sold to an organization that plants trees. The packaging is also made of recyled materials.

Practically speaking, the Earthdrive come in storage sizes ranging from 1GB to 8 GB, and will run you from $29 to $99. That’s a little more costly than lesser, planet-wrecking USB keys, but Gaia will smile whenever you transfer data.

USB Crunching Dogs

Forget about those cute but crude USB Humping Dogs that have been around for quite some time already - the local dog pound has managed to round up most of these pooches and sent them for some spaying goodness in order to prevent mass breeding from flooding the city with more four-legged friends. Since they have been neutered, they had to exert their energy elsewhere, resulting in the USB Crunching Dogs that do nothing but non-stop sit-ups when powered by any USB port. They’re fully imported from Japan, retailing for $9.99 a pop and measures 2.25″. There is no point in getting this device, it is just there for laughs and makes for a hilarious present.
